2014 Men’s Coaching Stafff

The CCIAC would like to thank Stuart Rose for his dedicated services acting as head coach of the club for the past 2 seasons. Stuart assisted in the development of a youthful group of players, and there is no doubt that his work and structure will pay huge dividends in the years to come. The CCIAC is excited to see Stuart focus his efforts as a player this season.

It is our hope that Stuart chooses to stay on his toes and use his shoulders this year to tackle and avoid any further dislocations!

We are excited to announce the return of Dan Harlow as Club Coach & 1st XV Coach for 2014 season. Dan coached at the club several years ago and was successful in raising the skill level and general compete level across the 3 men’s teams.

Dan has competed and coached rugby for the past 24 years and has an extraordinary rugby resume which includes the following:

  • Played professionally in North America and Australia
  • As a player, has competed and earned 6 Vancouver Island titles, 4 Provincial Championships (1 with Cowichan, 3 with James Bay), 1 National Club title, and 2 Super League titles
  • Dan is unofficially the all time leading point scorer for James Bay
  • Member of the Canada sevens team for several years
  • Has played in 8 classic world rugby championships with the Canadian classic team

In 2014, Dan will build on the results and lessons from the 2013 season. The core group of the 1st XV squad of 2013 was amongst the youngest in the history of the Calgary Irish. An additional year of experience coupled with the return of key veteran players will serve to promote the competitive, fast, hard brand of rugby that was has been the mark of the club since it’s inception. Dan through his varied experience brings a culture of winning to the club which is sure to lead to major improvements.

Coaching the 2nd XV will be “Midnight” Randy Dahlman, who brings a mix of energy, experience and humour to a team that will undoubtedly be looking to build upon it’s 2013 success. Randy’s competitive spirit is sure to fuel the fires of the 2nds in their pursuit of a 2014 provincial championship.

James Lenting will continue to develop the youth and aged ones who make up the Mighty T’irds. James steady organized nature combined with a solid rugby background will serve to promote the values of the 3rd XV who will look to make the playoffs in 2014.

**The club is looking for volunteer managers to assist with game day activities for each of the 1st XV, 2nd XV and 3rd XV. If you are interested in getting involved, please contact info@calgaryirishrugby.com**
